They definitely won't be getting anything exotic.

Best bet then is to make sure you have some good burning hardwood floors and solid doors, they'll work it out ;)

The rental where the Westinghouse is installed has just become vacant. I met with Property Manager and tenant there today. Tenant had oven repaired a week ago. It needs repair again. The oven door is not closing and the thermostat does not work, I just rang to get the serviceman out. No problem in getting him but there are doubts whether it can be repaired long term.

New tenants move in on Saturday. Monday is a Public Holiday.

    Do I ....
    (1) Get it repaired and hope it lasts or
    (2) just bite the bullet and replace it. It is only 3 years old.

At this stage I think I have to wait and see what Serviceman says on Thursday.

I tend to say option 2 if it's been breaking down often :-\

Warranty and replace (not repair as it's a lemon) under warranty if possible. Seeing its ~3 years old, it will fall under the new consumer legislation which kicked in Jan 2011. An oven should last much longer than 3 years....

Yeah, a bit suckworthy that it's only that old, but might keep happening.

I'm also a fan of Westinghouse - and they look decent too - but not the once Chrispy is talking about.

For a PPOR I always go the split oven/grill as sometimes I look to use both at once (ie, lamb chops with oven fries) or even use the grill section as a warmer drawer if I'm using the oven ... I suspect I'd probably go the same with IP's as I'm sure tenants are in the same boat ... and Westinghouse are one of the few makers that still do the spilt.

I've been keeping a sharp eye on Westinghouse brand for my renovation. I feel like they may be a good choice.
