    Hi Everyone,

First of all admin please feel free to delete this thread if it is not allowed as I am not a business member.

As some of you may know from somersoft I have registered a new business doing building inspections. I am looking for some advice on how to improve my website if you think it needs it before I start advertising. I have been a bit lazy in getting the business up and running, so I have decided to put expertise to good use.

    My website is www.platinumpropertyinspections.com

Any advice/feedback good or bad will be appreciated. Is there any website designers on the forum that can offer some advice.

P.s I am not looking to get work from other members on the forum.

Looks ok. Some reason why you didn't go for a .com.au name?

    Hi Brian

I looked at the mobile version and it's quite good for a new site.

If you want to add more you could put a sample report that people can download.

Best to keep things simple and not add too much stuff though.

    Good luck with the business

My cousin was working on the website for me but is currently going through some personal issues so I haven't bothered her to fix anything up for me yet. I would like to get it changed to .com.au

Thanks dan. My report is pretty simple to read for the client as well as some other detailed info. I was a bit sceptical in regards to putting a sample report on the website in case someone else copies my templates and info.

Easy to use and works well on mobile, everything I looked for was easy to find.

Just a few minor grammar points that I noticed (14yrs, $530:00, random comas) but other than that it was nicely worded and succinct.

    Testimonials page needs testimonials!

Also think you'd do well with more information on 'Why Get An Inspection Report' instead of a few images.

Australian photos wouldn't go astray in the gallery.

Thanks for the feedback. I have to wait to do some inspections before I can get any testimonials. It's only a new business and I am not one to just make up a testimonial just for the sake of having something on there.

Thanks Scott. I think I can recall you suggested that on somersoft or maybe it was someone else. Either way I just haven't done much with the site since then.

You can register the .com.au version, and have them all link to the same page.

You could learn how to use the back end of the website so you can take stuff down and put stuff up easier. I don't know what program you were using but the one I had to use to update a website for my previous job was only slightly more complicated than a Facebook page. I certainly wasn't computer savvy and could do it.

Yes that sounds like what I need to do. My cousin did show me but I couldn't pick it up straight away. It looked a bit tricky.

I like the mild sense of humour with the two pics of the houses at the top but was wondering if it was an Australian house. No offense to anyone but I dislike openkng up American websites and someone like me might wonder.

I'd put the steps up the top - and bolder and less. Simple, simple, simple. It looks really nice but someone like me doesn't want to spend too much time reading. It's almost a bit too polite. :)

Ok thanks for feedback. My cousin put the house on the home page as its a nightmare because she said it was the house out of freddy Krueger. I haven't seen the movie.

Maybe I need to change all pics to Aus pics.

    Definitely use Australian pictures.

Also recommend getting the .com.au domain.

If you don't have the company.au domain it's too late. It's not available.

What it means is that somebody else has already bought the domain name platinumpropertyinspections.com.au

If you want it you would need to find the owner and negotiate. If you're unlucky, somebody from here has read the thread and bought it, hoping to make a quick flip.

Just make sure that you have the business name registered, and that you have an ABN.
