Cowandilla, Marsden, etc yes. Henley Beach no - the flights go out via Glenelg and are too high by then to be heard.

Yeah Henley Beach is fine, but you pay premium prices since it's beach side.

Location within a suburb can make a big difference too. I really like a pocket within a particular suburb - yet wouldn't consider 2 or 3 streets the other way.

Beautiful old character homes one side and a very low socio economic industrial feel the other side.

There is definitely a higher income demographic in eastern suburbs that lends to the prestige. Scools are better in eastern suburbs too, posdibly due to the environment - as curriculums are basically the same in all schools.

I think the demographic in the west will shift over time and prices level out so that east and west will be more similarly priced.

Some west areas, those close to city like mile end and those close to beach like grange and west beach are already high priced compared to what they were.

the other western areas have room to grow too.

Poor people that live on Henley beach esplanade. Noise pollution is very high. Loud cars and bikes ride there all day and all night. I had a swim there a few times this summer in the middle of the night and it's very loud. I wouldn't live there even if it was free. :(

Disagree. Never noticed that when I lived there. That's my #1 choice of place to live if given the option of anywhere in Australia.

How many years ago was that? Last time I was there a week ago takin' my kids for a swim, because it's a nice beach. Saw a few motorbike gangs (20-30) bikes going one way than reversing and driving the other way with such noise that my kids wouldn't be able to sleep. Cars with loud exaust system ride there every minute, there is almost nowhere to park on hot days and the place is full of people like 5th avenue on a lunch brake. You want to live with that. Good luck. I'm not that young anymore.

No where to park is the only part I agreed with there, so I'd want to live walking distance.

West Beach is quieter. Or try the Yorke Peninsula if you want tranquility - you can hear someone sneeze from a mile away

Yeah I know. Sandy Bay is great and quiet, but it's cold. :)

Oh my gosh Barnes, what are we going to do with you? Lol
It's an area that is going up in value, how about you buy a house there, get a good property manager and you will never have to worry about planes because you won't live there :D

Never. Just spent an hour and a half there on Henley beach esplanade. Counted more than 70 motorcycles driving there with terrible noise. Almost one every minute. It's not for me. I'll settle for something like Craigburn Farm after I'll finish the PPOR that I'm building now. At least it's peace and quite there and no planes, motorcycles or loud cars.

Just starting in a few months, but they are promising to do it in 8 months. We'll see.
About Ip's. :) I always end up living in one of them, due to life's curves. So I need to be very picky and outside noise is the worst problem for me.
So I don't understand why people pay premium dollar to live with such noise pollution. It's beyond me.

I love both, I love the cosmopolitan lifestyle, resturants, cafes, shopping. I grew up in glenelg, my parents are still there. I loved walking to jetty rd and the beach - still do.

We have plans to move to a quieter area in next 5 years, stirling or crafters, larger land size and quieter, greener area. My husband would love something even further out but I still need to be near civilisation. I'm the more social one.

We're over in Crafers - definitely a big difference to normal metro Adelaide - with 'small' blocks being 1000sqm. 15-20 minutes down the highway into the middle of the CBD and a great local community feel.

A good mix of restaurants/foodie places - the only thing 'lacking' is if you want to shop at big format stores like Good Guys etc. Definitely worth the trade off IMHO. ;)

Adelaide Hills is a beautiful area. I am always amazed that I can drive from city to Hahndorf in half an hour. The Haysen Tunnel helped a lot compared to the 90s. It makes the Hills a lot more accessible.

Unfortunately there is no way we will downsize there when we are old. We need to live close to shops and restaurants. So if I move back to Adelaide for retirement, I would probably living not too far from Gouger Street.

I love the hills too. My family have lived in that area since the 1840s. My nana worked as a cook at the Crafers hotel in the late 1930s. I take her up there for lunch when I can. Lovely day out.

I'd love to live in a house with massive gardens around Stirling/upper Sturt. I'd be too worried about bush fires though. I've had family members go through a number of fires in that region. My nana tells me she has lost three houses to bush fires over the years.
