Probably should have clarified that in my original post :). as you can see quite a bit of development in a concentrated area. hopefully the retail/entertainment hub will help alleviate some of the chronic youth unemployment in the area.

Salisbury South is having a $220m new development, and the Saint Road shopping centre at Salisbury Plains is getting an $18m expansion

Do not get me started on this one! I have been waiting for this shopping center since 2009. No other development in the history of Adelaide has had such a drawn out process. On the brighter side i stopped in the bottlo there a few days ago and the clerk behind the counter mentioned there about to start construction.:)

Parabanks is such a dump. After the Elizabeth centre was rebuilt 15 years ago everyone started going there instead.

I've been hearing about this $10m, $20m update on parabanks for years.

Who is going to go there? Northern SA doesn't have enough people for all of these shopping centres. We need more people in the state not more shopping centres

The parabanks upgrade is well and truly underway, i for one shop there. (and John st). The reason i am eagerly awaiting the saints rd shopping center is because parabanks has become so congested, especially when it comes to finding a car park. As for who will shop there, an employee recently told me the parabanks Woolworth's has the third highest turnover in the state. (i have no reason to doubt this). I have lived/shopped in the area for many years and have never seen it so busy, especially with the influx of Middle eastern/African immigrants in the last couple of years.

Defiantly quirky. Any upgrade is good and will bring more business.

I just think they have over done it abit here. With all the new shopping centres they are building all the time. I'm waiting for this influx of new people....

I think they certainly over did it with hardware stores, speaking of which does anyone know whats happening to the Masters store that never was? I have heard its to be sold off? Surely would be a prime spot for an Ikea,

Adelaide only has one Ikea right?

I believe Adelaide is to be one of the first roll-outs for the Ikea Mini stores they are launching. These have been a big hit in London already and Ikea has some planned for Aus too.

Yep, not sure why they haven't as yet set up shop in north, Surely the abandoned Masters at Parafield would be a prime spot for it?

Interesting fact, the Chinese are on track to consume 12.8 Million tones! of poultry in 2016.

I love chicken but the increase in meat consumption over the years is extremely high globally. There will be associated health risks to follow due to the excess.

Maybe this should be a different thread ollidrac :) would be interesting to discuss.
