Hi - just wondering if anyone has experience (or insights) on the costs and approvals of adding a second storey to a semi detached in Glenside? It’s a small 2 bedroom solid brick and the shared wall is only the single garage (far side wall) so we were thinking of extending upwards to gain an extra 2 bedrooms and bathroom. The roof is Colorbond and the foundations look solid. We just weren’t sure how strict council would be on having the property look in keeping with the neighbouring attached property. We also note that the surrounding semi-detached are all in the same style. It’s a cheaper style 1985 build - so not a character home.

    Any thoughts welcome!

    Cheers

Maybr start by having a chat with the owner of the other semi (things will be much harder if they object), also with a town planner at your local council.
