I drink Cordial, I can't take much in the way of fizz anymore so I go through about 1 litre of weak cordial (I don't like it sweet) and about 2 litres of just plain water most days (plus 2 coffees in the morning and sometimes a Tea in the arvo). My Cordial is the only thing with sugar in, I drink my tea and coffee without.

I don't like diet drinks, they are sickly sweet and aspartame is super super bad for you.

If I catch up with friends I will have 2 or 3 beers but that's about it.

Green tea has moderate amounts apparently,
    chinese tea has it too

the only tea that I am aware and that I can drink is Rooibos,

    Red bull has caffeine. ;)

Some that could catch you out:
    - some soft drinks have caffeine
    - a chocolate bar could have up to 31 grams of caffeine
    - some ice creams have caffeine
    - some pain killers have caffeine
    - some vitamin waters have caffeine
    - some energy bars have caffeine

I don't put too much stock in any of the "xyz gives you cancer" research, Even the smoking ones.

I know people who are in their 40's and 50's alcoholics smoking a pack a day drinking diet drinks and eating processed garbage yet amazingly they always nail the health checks with their GP.

Through research I did in the last couple of years, it drew a conclusion that it's actually more to do with genetic predisposition. This can be based on many things but a large one was geographical background (Koreans have a high volume of esophageal cancer, Indians more Bowel etc etc). These were my own conclusions from lots of reading and personal experience, they should not be taken as anything other than "Dan's opinion"

Now what Aspartame (artificial sweetener) does to your brain is a whole different story, lights it up like a big ol christmas tree. I have no idea what the long term effects of it are but under imaging it looks the same as someone on crack.

None of this is suggesting that you can do these things and be fine, my suggestion is simply that there is not enough evidence to draw the conclusion that they are the only contributing factors to certain diseases as the WHO would have us believe.

I've also noticed that some foods also have aspartame in it.

    Like fat free yogurt.

    It seems to be everywhere

    It's quite scary

Good pick up. There are lots of "diet" foods with aspartame, from jello to jam. It's scary, I agree. My mate get sick if he has aspartame, that's why I started looking into it. Nasty stuff.

Check out the video about how it failed regulatory requirements for human consumption 3 times so they kept paying money to add more and more people to the regulatory board until it was passed. It shouldn't be consumed by humans.

I take this stuff with a grain of salt though as there can be some very convincing propaganda out there :).

Hmm.. I've just taken up drinking red wine again. I feel better with every glass! :p
I haven't stopped drinking coffee either, though I've cut back to about 3-4/day and don't drink coffee after 6pm.

I have a food intolerance to salycitates, which has only developed in last few years, so have to stick to eating what my dietician calls 'granny meals' that means there is a helluva lot I cant eat. Like chocolate, cheeses, wine anything that has preservatives. Sometimes I wonder what I did to deserve this as I feel quite deprived when I go to the supermarket. :(
