Needed to get some. Apparently there is a huge shortage. Shops turning me away no stock. Landrover no stock. SCA limit me to 2l per day. I grabbed 2. Called around all empty. Just got a shop who has last 10L left. Racing to get it and whatever stock he has in 1L. He never mentioned a buyer limit. Wtf is going on???
Diesel exhaust fluid AdBlue surges in price, but is it price-gouging or just supply and demand? The consumer watchdog is investigating whether price gouging is occurring in the market for AdBlue, an anti-pollutant added to most modern diesel engines, after the federal government called it in to monitor. AdBlue has surged significantly in price amid a shortage of refined urea, a key ingredient used in the diesel exhaust fluid. The shortage is also part of a global supply chain crisis — multiple producers of urea across the globe have either shut down, are in maintenance, or have been directed by their governments to focus on domestic markets. It has sparked a scare among truck drivers and the transport industry, who fear a lack of AdBlue could cripple the transport networks that provide daily consumer goods to Australians.
Should just build a urea factory internally. They can be fully automated. We have a large, developed and efficient agri sector to sell it to.
The amounts used by cars is minimal compared to transport requirements - 2 litres will see you through for a while as you don't have a large reservoir in a SUV. (looks to be about 1 litre/800km) Land Rover and Range Rover AdBlue Top-Up Services
Well, they would, wouldn't they? Incitec Pivot will soon ramp up local urea production The deal comes after Incitec announced plans to shut down a fertiliser plant in Brisbane One industry insider warns Australia should have more than one plant making urea. Australia to scale up urea manufacturing capability in 'short-term' fix to AdBlue shortage
"Why did it have to reach crisis point before the government finally did something. Securing our fuel supply I would have thought was everyday business of government," Ms King wrote on Twitter." Like everything else, I'll lay blame squarely on the accounting fraternity - it makes no financial sense to manufacture the product in Oz when you can buy it cheaper from OS. Sell off our plants or shut them down vs creating fuel security, jobs & pollution for a carbon intensive industry. What sort of economic reform is that? Propping up the fuel industry when we now import our refined fuels from the Phillipines (our only small refinery remains in Kwinana WA & no-one is allowed into the state ever again if the Premier has his way). (Rant off SNM)
Cleaned them out. Young dude didn't care. Going to get more from other place and stock up. These were reasonably priced. But they said no more shipments for awhile.
I thought it was a Chinese export ban causing the problem? Avoid the problem by not buying European diesel vehicles.
Land rover now calls me back saying they can do the top up but not free anymore, pay 100. I said yes! Going Monday. They acknowledged very limited supply. Keeping the supply I bought. Who knows when land rover will be out.
Exactly, get one of those 20 year old Landies which run a tad dirty & can use chip oil or lard if you don't want to fork out $1.70/litre on diesel.
Yes. Oils is oils lol. But with those modern diesels, if the adblue runs out then the vehicle goes into limp mode.
They still run on limp mode, better just buying a pre 2003 supercharged Mercedes petrol before the compressors came out as they will run forever and throw you back in the seat like a GTHO ..
