True, but it's like investing in a house that you assume will grow at a lower rate than CPI.

You're welcome to use any analogy you like.

The point is that coal is still a growing industry and the more coal that is burnt the more green house gases will grow.

Didn't answer my question but I like what you said regardless and I agree we should be, but be realistic about the time frames involved, was my point.

Let’s be honest the mine was probably viable 10 years ago when it was first floated but even though maybe not as much now the bloke probably just wanted to keep pushing ahead to get a win over the far left unemployed muppets outta Newtown! If I was mega rich and had all those imbeciles telling me what to do I’d want to go ahead just to infuriate them more.

maybe read the thread before you make pointless comments

in isolation this mine is bad but if we way up what happens as a result of it not proceeding then what is worse for the environment?

That's your assessment but certainly not the consensus of this thread, as you make out!
Not only will this mine destroy more land and put aquifers at risk, but it will also make sure that the world consumes more coal, even if the mine is uneconomical much of the costs will be sunk costs by the time they figure that out.

I think you'll be hard pressed to find environmentalists that support your apparent thesis that this mine will have a net positive impact environmentally!

Not pointless to me to make that comment. If we don't perceive perhaps will be some economic implications for Queensland but I'm not prepared to put everything ahead of the environment.

... and I'm dubious about the economic implications. Adani does not have a very good track record of fulfilling its promises or adhering to environmental restrictions

Your Honour, yes, my client did indeed did kill the victim, but he used a clean knife, surely in this day and age of over the top political correctness, that has a significant mitigation on the gravity of crime.
