    G'day all,

Just wondering if anyone has any thoughts on the Adani coal mine and how it will affect Rockhampton and surrounds? Anyone think it will have an impact with the fly in fly out hub?

Adani FIFO base to create jobs, jobs, and more jobs

im hoping it does but would be interested on some locals opinions!

    Cheers

It might have a small impact, but be wary of the job figures... 4000 jobs will be a combination of construction and operations, the construction jobs will be staged and I'll bet that the operations jobs are double counted. That is, there are multiple pits and underground mines that make up the total project, say there's 100 jobs for each pit and 5 pits. They will claim 500 jobs, but in reality it will be 100 as workers move pit to pit.

    Yeah right cheers @Phase2

I guess it might at least help with market sentiment. Together with the Singapore army training base hopefully things might improve a little!

True. And you might find that if Rocky is a decent base for the fifo construction team during the construction phase, it will probably give house prices a temporary boost.
