Honestly if someone openly says that he/she is hurt from the remarks, comments, booing or anything else, should we respect their feelings and stop? Or what gives us a right to apply different behaviour towards the sports or other public figures than our friends, collegues, next door neighbour etc.

As previously stated and confirmed by the young girl, this was a phrase often used to each other within their family environment as I call mine little monkeys, no racial offence was intended.....

Yes I do have daughter Samten, she is only 13 months old and I can guarantee that she will never behave in that manner, so yes like I said I would accept that you blame the parents. But please answer this, what should Adam Goodes have done? Ignore it because she was only 13? It was unacceptable and he did the right thing in that instance IMO. If her parents won't tell her that it's wrong then the Australian society bloody well should.

And that's because NZ was not founded on the colonial mindset that there were no real people there because they didn't have a western system of land ownership.

Unfortunately set the stage for 200 years of dispossession and lack of recognition.

@mush An innocuous offensive remark is still offensive. The term has extremely negative connotations for some Australians which she now knows.

The first indigenous people in history to force the British to sign a peace treaty 'The Treaty of Waitangi" so a very different founding of a nation. Australia was always going to be behind the 8 ball.

Yep. It's fascinating looking at the differences as a result of that.

Much more enlightening than getting in a huff because someone called out your (not yours. You know what I mean) racist behavior as... well... racist.

Unfortunately her intention really does not matter. The damage was done. Adam Goodes has probably heard the word used previously in the racist circumstances and he reacted based on his experience. He tried to fix it after he was made aware of her circumstances.

I would probably be extremely hurt and feeling that the person is sexist if someone in the middle of serious business conversation or argument starts to tell blonde jokes and aiming them towards me. Even if the person might not mean anything bad with them, I have already got my fair share of jokes and would react based on my experiences.

I feel that many people, who do not belong any minority groups have difficulties with the concept described above. They simply have never been discriminated or marginalised and can not walk in with someone else's shoes that has these experiences. Again not their fault, it just is not their experience

    Yes. Completely ok with this.
Saying that and going sulking to the media saying there's an underlying agenda are 2 very different things.

Then you should have no problem with Goodes. Nobody's claimed there's an underlying agenda. The intention of the crowds is irrelevant.

Racism is received, not necessarily given.
