Have to share this because it’s kind of funny.
A good friend of Mine wanted to have lunch a few days ago so that I can show him how to get started buying bitcoin.

I showed him how to download and back up a simple iOS wallet and Then sent him some bitcoin so he can see the transaction and how it all happens. He Left very enthusiastic and I gave him a list of videos to watch.

Anyway today he contacted me and asked me what the symbol for bitcoin was. He said $ stands for dollars and $1 stands for one dollar. What is 1 bitcoin. Is it 1B???

I said yes And sent him the actual symbol by text. It happens that he pulled up an old computer from years ago and remembered an investor years ago asking him to invest a few hundred dollars into some scheme, that had the symbol B. He looked at his old passwords etc and got into some exchange thing and it turns out he had purchased 113 bitcoins now worth $1,113,000.

He bought bitcoins years ago, had no idea they were bitcoins and is only learning what they are for the first time, yet as of today he has also found out he is a bitcoin millionaire.

How cool is that? Made my day today :)

Could be time for him to sell up before the bubble bursts!

    Cool story.

Given the windfall I would be advising him to protect the gains, perhaps sell some and if he is going to keep any long term to move them off the exchange.

I agree I’m helping him to get it all into a hardware wallet. It blows my mind that he bought it from an exchange and it’s actually still there.

Sounds like BS to me. Some investor asking him to invest in some scheme that was bitcoin? Doesn’t make sense

What was the exchange? MT Gox ? Good luck with that...lol.

@Xenia - pm the password and account details ;)

PS. A disgraced Nigerian Princess let me have access to her bitquoin account - it was as secure as a brick bomb shelter.

Well that's it. I'm gonna buy a few bitcoins and jiggle them in my pocket. How much for 3 or 4?

    Hey big spender.

Remember that Banks won't accept bitcoin but will exchange notes o_O

I’m sure that story could be sold to the media - providing everyone is being truthful of course.

I made a few thousand on selling my koala video to the media but I don’t think my friend wants the attention. He is already one of the worst people I know in maintaining relationships, all he needs now is to attract gold diggers lol

Relax. I promise to leave him alone.

I'm just here in Adelaide on a short vacation. :)

I've heard that you don't have to buy a whole bitcoin, which is good when they are $7k each. Apparently you can buy a portion of a bitcoin. So you can apparently still have a dabble with for eg $100.
