Got this graphic off of social media today - who has been down this path and can empathise with it? Alternatively who thinks it goes differently than this?

Self doubt can be part of the game, but the volatility in thinking displayed on that chart would make it hard to do anything during the day ... yikes..... you want consistent and stable thinking!

If you are balanced in your mind, you become present, poised, peaceful and powerful .... and just get on with fulfilling your vision.

I just applied that chart to my almost 10 years in my business.

    Almost 100% accurate assessment.

I'm not entrepreneurial though. My business is a necessary evil service, with no innovation or any scope for real enhancement of efficiency.

Maybe I'm lucky but I don't find it anywhere near as roller coaster as that. Up's and downs yes, but much smoother on the whole :)

    Yes its true.

I think many people further stuff up by buying an expensive car at the "its working" point.

I think not just a car. But in general doing well for a short period of time brings the notion of success. Then they go out and buy something that they maybe shouldn't have just yet. Then the business takes a turn and the 'success' cash they had which might have saved them becomes the final nail in the coffin.
Lesson is to be careful with money when things are going well. Don't be in a hurry to spend it. Always have in mind the 'what if' scenarios. Build buffers first. These will save you if things turn and even if they never turn it will provide good peace of mind.

Took a few small knock backs when trying to get off the mark with various attempts, but once got going with something that worked, it's been up and up for the past 10 years.

@pinkboy - you found two niches in your market and moved forward on both fronts. The only danger is that it's tied to the one industry.

I'd agree if the title was 'a year in the life of an entrepreneur'

These graphs are usually done by people who arent entrepreneura themselves.

If i regularly swing like that within a day id suggest a career change and a shrink

I think it's just a bit of fun or a bit of nonsense, and I don't know any good shrinks unfortunately

Yeah i get that it's just a bit of fun, I just get a bit frustrated with all the constant motivational memes etc u see all over Facebook and the Internet. It has it's place sure but more often than not the people sharing such memes tend to be the talkers and not the doers. At least in my experience and of course there are exceptions to every rule
