Do get a real idea about the prices, I think properties which have been passed in at auctions would be a good place to start

Is there any site wherein I can check which properties have passed in at auctions or I have to check each broker website ?

Which are the biggest house brokers in Melbourne?

    Cheers

    Spoke to a colleague
He informed me that the present lease of my office is expiring this year end we shall probably be moving to the CBD
So All my distance calculations are better done with Flinders street station as the starting point instead of Hawthorn

    Cheers

If this is your first house and a ppor. You should try to buy in below $600k to maximise the stamp duty rebate. Live in the place for minimum 12 months, then rentvest to get the depreciation.

Try looking in newer estate in north or west in order to get the best bang for under $600k. Suburb like Werribee, hoppers crossing, truganina, Wyndham vale, south morang, wollert, mernda, Doreen, etc

The hardest part will be explaining to the miss on why the hell we ended up in Werribee with a $900k budget..:)

Do you mean "real estate agents"? o_O
I have found size doesn't really matter.

Is it true that the Chinese get the houses undervalued so as to get below the 600k price point and pay the remainder in cash ?

So the developers prefer such buyers as they also save in taxes

Is it true and rampant ?

What's the easiest way to search which properties have passed in at auctions and are available for sale on negotiation basis?

Search the previous auctions results and check is the only way out ?

    Cheers

Yep - you sit down on Sunday and go through it.
    Ring up agents Monday morning.

Even then, I don't trust the information Domain and Realestate provide. In the regions I have been focusing on, I have noticed that there is a lack of data in regards to auctions making that region appear to be more 'quiet' than it actually is (and this is purely based on observation and the specific type of property I am investing in).
