No bloody way. If that number is real it would have been all over the news. Where did they get the numbers from?

It probably gross inflow rather than net inflow, for example September 2020 quarter QLD had a net gain of 7,237 (out of 22,317 gross), July 2020 net was 6,750 (out of gross 24,141). So roughly there are circa 100K moving to Queensland every year, however we also lose people to other states. Net is ~28K. Which is still significantly above average. Almost every other state is losing net.

Treasurer Cameron Dick said COVID-19 shut down international migration but Queensland would continue to be the "destination of choice" for interstate migration.

About 86,000 people will move from other states to Queensland between 2020-21 to 2023-24.

"That means over 88 per cent of all net domestic migration gains in that time will be in Queensland," Mr Dick said.

Cautiously optimistic that this qld boom is genuine and can be sustained.
Though in the long term, can't see where the high-paying jobs are coming from.

Exactly. We are seeing multiple CASH offers from interstate investors on cheaper properties. Don't forget the Brisbane investors and owner occupiers competing with cashed up Melbourne and Sydney buyers in places like Logan and Ipswich!

Or if you're moving from Sydney & selling to buy something better that costs less.

Friends in the process of doing that as we speak. Sold their 3 bed home in Sydney's East for 3.5m approx (no debt) and moving to Brisbane. Planning to buy a home for around 1.2m. They're laughing all the way to the bank.

That's 25,000 more people than the Mt Druitt population. Be gone! make room for the regentrification and million dollar property prices lol.

They're gonna need a lot more Centrelink offices up there lol.

You should see the centrelink in Woodridge. Lol it’s like the Capitol Hill of centrelinks. Almost feels like it needs a concierge.

I mean look at it, it has more architectural flair than most buildings:
