I thought I'd clean my windows and took the screens off.. Now I can't get them back on.
I know how they are supposed to go on, they just don't fit. They have a groove they are supposed to go in - slide them in up the top, push them over so the side fits in then pull them down a bit so they fit properly. But I can't them to go in up the top at all - the window isn't wide enough.

They are 10 year old aluminium sliding windows.

What is the trick?? This is frustrating the hell out of me.

The trick is to leave them off til you get a tenant then offer to get them put on in exchange for a $10 per week raise as per that other thread :p

Slide them diagonally into the bottom LH or RH corner, then into the whole bottom groove, first......or the reverse as this youtube vid shows:

Wash the window with the screens in place. Use a soft broom & lots of soapy water.

    Hose to rinse.

My flyscreens were marked with TL and TR to assist getting them back in. Best ever hack.

In your case, try to match the right screen with the window you are working with and then again try to match the shape as the angles will not always be square.

Like @Propertunity stated above work with sliding them in.

Thanks everyone. I took off all of them and had some go back easily - i just had a couple that just didn't fit. Tried the diagonal and putting them in the top or bottom first... In the end I bent the screens and got a hammer. Learnt my lesson not to clean windows.

Are you trying to do it from the inside or the outside?

Yesterday tried from all angles and sides.

I have two more to put on. One is about 3m off the ground, so will need to be inside.
    Nothing a hammer can't fix. :)

Got really frustrated with it. Then to top it off I installed a new wooden Venetian on a window and the slats wouldn't lower - some rubbish cordless thing that will be going back tomorrow. Had to keep the hammer away from that one.

This is as far as the blind goes. It is cordless which I'd never heard of before. I thought maybe the cord was stuck so I pulled the bottom off to have a look. The cord is a loop with a nylon wire attached. The loop goes around the mechanism and stops - there is no way the blind can lower more than half way.

Yesterday wasn't a good day for windows in my house.

Always be careful not to mix up the screens. Each one will be ever so slightly different. Do one at a time and make sure you keep it the same way up.

Thanks Marg. I definitely had the right screens for each window and each one had a pull tag thing at the bottom, so I knew which way was up.

The video above shows someone taking off the glass pane to get them back in. Not a chance I'm trying that.

No I was the only one home. They were tight coming off. I suspect they were originally put on when the sliding pane was off. That extra inch that the sliding pane overlaps was the killer. Anyway all back on now (some looking worse for the experience).
