BTW - I personally have shopped at N-Land quite often (no probs!), as well as bought lots of stuff at the Good Guys and Bunnings opposite when we were working on one of the IP's nearby.

I think the areas great other than the $#@% access to the city. Need to keep in mind however that Latrobe and Austin is not far.

And yes, we have even been shopping at Aldi Heidi West so there!

Well my IP is at Preston and I just plan to ride the wave of gentrification for inner north suburbs. For the same budget I would have to buy so far away in Sydney, it is not funny.

I will definitely head to Northland and High St next time I come down to Melbourne and see who I will be dealing with :p

Actually it was you past posts in PC on Preston that made me do some investigation on inner north suburbs. Originally I thought about buying around Sunshine but found the price is too high relative to the rental return.

I still think Sunshine have great potential but the rental prices has not caught up with the house price yet.

When did you purchase? around preston I presume. Yes - I confirm that was my findings too Sunshine prices is not relative to its rental. if was great in sunshine maybe 2 years ago but the boat has sailed for that suburb even now north is getting expensive. time to research the next CG suburb.

Yes, at Preston, just more than 1 month ago. ironically not far from the Goldfields group land at Reservoir that you put up the link earlier. Hopefully their sell price is so expensive that it will drag my IP value higher :p

All you to do is wait - Welcome to The Haig

There is a lot of infra projects in that area. Similar to Chadstone (power st etc) when chadstone redevelopment occurred.

if you see the haig Street, Heidelberg Heights which less than 5 min drive away - those townhouses are selling 750K-800K which 2 stages has sold out.

Yes that is what I am hoping for. I saw some Chinese shops in google maps but not sure how recent the street view photos are. I hope Preston will become a new Box Hill.

When I was renovating my IP, that was my local Bunnings and I bought an A/C unit from the Good Guys there.

If you are driving, access to the city sucks during peak times. I found it ok at night and other non-busy times. Train was a lot better. I was walking distance to Rosanna station.

I really like Preston, especially south of Bell street. That's where I wanted to buy but could not afford it!

I presume you bought it sight unseen or thru BA? Preston has a huge market with strips of Asian restaurants.. the yumcha place is very crowded on the weekend.. full of chinese.. hard to get a table and lots jumped queue.. restaurants are very busy at night too.. have to wait to be seated on sat night.. good quality chinese food tho..many roasted ducks place around the area..

    preston is definitely growing.. :)
how much did you buy yours for if you dont mind me asking? prices have gone off the roof the last time i checked..

With this money, you could buy a house in Glen waverley, Mt waverley or Chadstone 3 years ago.

I will be able to tell you after the house is settled in 2 weeks time. I bought it thru a BA as I do not have time to go down there myself at all with 2 kids.

Not wanting to go OT, but what are the recommended restaurants at Preston?

The yumcha place is only so-so.. a bit pricey in my opinion compared to some other yumcha place in melb... My friend who is a local in Preston took me to C Culture restaurant for dinner.. Typical chinese restaurant, don't expect good service, took about 20-30mins to just get someone to take our orders as they are understaffed.. but once ordered, food came in a flash.. decent price for good food.. will go again..
