It's had a prang or hard hit... and not repaired.

If it were me I'd be moving on to the next one.

    That sucks.

Wow very thorough list! Although a big chunk are wear and tear. The fuel tank is a strange one.

Did the owner have much to say?

You'll probably find numbers 13, 40, 41 on most Patrols, common issues that are easy fixes.

39 Expansion Tank Expansion tank empty at time of inspection
40 Serpentine belt Drivebelt operation noisy
    40 Tensioner/Idler Tensioner is weak/erratic/bouncing in operation
41 Intercooler Core Intercooler core leaking

All that this tells you this motor may well have been running without any coolant and these motors produce extreme horsepower and large amounts of heat, and if the belts and tensioners are no good then the water pump will also need to be serviced plus thermostat ..might be better to let someone else buy this car..

Pulled the plug on the purchase of the 2008 Nissan Patrol, ended up knocking off $4k for the 2010 Nissan Patrol (112,000 kms, Diesel, Auto). Got it yesterday and i'm VERY happy with it!

I recently bought a Colorado Z71. 5 year unlimited KM warranty was certainly a large factor. Also you can push the Holden dealers bigtime at the moment because they aren't selling many cars. Just coming up to 10,000km and thus far it has been faultless.

Out of interest, i obviously pulled out of the last purchase. Is my $250 deposit refundable? The purchase was subject to mechanical inspection.

    Hey guys,

Just wanted to let you know that I’m loving the new patrol. We did Bribie island a month ago, great fun!

I bought myself a booked called “4WD Treks close to Brisbane”, so we a planning a 4x4 trek / camp next weekend in the D’Agluilar National Park.

As for 4x4 Supercentre, I feel like a kid in a candy store! So much cool stuff I have bought there.

Once again, thank you all for all the great advice.

    Cheers,
    Robbie

If you head to Cape York in the dry season as opposed to the "Wet" it is very doable. Hundreds if not thousands do it. A vehicle with a snorkel is mandatory and travelling in a convoy is always a good idea.
There are many river crossings, and of course the infamous "Gunshot" to navigate through; but, if you take your time and prepare well there will be less hassle. Great part of Australia to have a look at.

I was wondering if there is a online 4x4 community (forum, facebook group etc) somewhere out there?

Everyone on this thread has been very helpful, but this is a property investing forum, so I'm looking a larger group of 4x4 enthusiasts :)
