Hey Peeps, can anyone recommend some insurers that cover 4WD's for on and off road use (and also business use too). I really don't want to spend my afternoon reading PDS's to see what is and is not covered so to be able to narrow it down to a few would be great! Cheers.
@Kinnon Bell How much "off road" cover do you need? Remember a rarely used bush fire access track is still a gazetted road (if it appears on a government map) and still covered by most insurance companies. So to be "off road" means you'd be traversing private property. Having said that, I am not sure regarding beaches. The Y-man
Thanks all Good point, Y Man but I think we'll be doing enough to warrant the off road insurance. Not only would we be doing the designated tracks but there are quite a few stations around here that allow for visitors to camp and make use of their property recreationallly so I can see us visiting those places too.
Photos of Cape York please we're planning our next move and Cairns keeps coming up. It's such a great spot to live!
Haven't been to the cape yet, but it's high on the list and I am sure I can oblige with some pictures when that happens! And why wouldn't it when this is on your doorstep: Looking out over Vlassof Cay to shore (great fishing that day too) (and a really bad day to find out my sunscreen had gone off....) Behana Gorge View from my local exercise hill (Earl Hill) And I need to stop looking through my FB photos now otherwise they'll be links to a 100 different photos! Pfft, shoosh you!
Years ago when I was more active in terms of off-road use of my vehicle I used to use TCIS ( now Arthur J Gallagher ). They specialise in this area and are active in the club scene. The 4wd association still recommends them. Quick Quote - TCIS Insurance Brokers At the moment I have a lease vehicle so the insurance is via the lease firm.
All fixed now (I think?!) Thanks for the link - had a read and did an online quote and seems quite reasonable Thanks for that - I had also found them via google, just need to fill in the PDF and send to them for a quote.
Yep! Great photos! Is there a waterfall out at behana? Has trinity been a lot more developed in the last 5 years? Many more houses? Is there buses to town from there?
Yep, few little waterfalls at Behana Gorge and quite a few swimming holes too. Trinity? A bit has changed in the last 5 years with a few new housing estates around the beaches. Not too much has changed in terms of big developments but I think that's more of a "watch this space". Can't say I've had the pleasure of catching Cairns PT but often see buses around the beaches that stick locally or head into town. I don't think getting around would be too much of an issue without a vehicle.
