Albeit at a very low rate, then it becomes tax free.

So you're close to having $1.6 million each in superannuation (I assume this is the 'limit' you're referring to), and you believe that isn't enough for you to fund a decent retirement?

    OK.

Thanks for making my point for me. It was a 'discussion' I want wanting to go into, so "ok" was my easy 'out'.

She's referring to the whittling back of both CC and NCC limits by both sides of the Laberal Party.

The phrase "close to the how much you can have in your super limit" appears to contradict that.

This - it seems every year limits are reduced and accessibility limited ... little by little ... might be fine this year but who knows what next year will bring.

Poor wording on my behalf - we are not close - but- when it is your own money that you put in, and your own hard work to increase it's value, it is irksome when the rules seem to constantly change.

Fortunately we are older - and about to retire (self funded) - but it must be really worrying for the young'uns

$3 bill is a big number...but averaged out over 7 mill families works out only $500ish per family which sounds like diddly squat so what.

It is frustrating to see how much money goes out on tax....it is such a huge drag on compounding wealth.

This is such *******......this is another beat-up of the most vulnerable in society...what about chasing all those corporations paying 1-2 cents on the dollar.

It really gets my goat that the f wits in the current govt play these games. How about they do their jobs properly...better still lets vote Malcolm Turnbull and his racist idiots like Dutton out of govt. Tired of their incompetence and blame shifting...what a bunch of toss bags.

All I'm advocating for is to sort out the fraud and incompetence of money management of my tax dollars. That's it.

Do you listen everything this govt tells you?

If you want fraud ........ have a look at all the waste in Centrelink...they have stuffed the IT system because they let a lot of the experienced IT people go...then they are understaffed on the front line..no wonder...money is going astray.....people in Australia are so gullible.

How about they look increasing GST and increase benefits for the lower end..that way people and companies can't avoid paying tax...

IIRC, benefits were increased by 20% when the gst came in.

Raising the rate of gst only impacts the end user. It flows through the business to it's customers so will have no effect on businesses who pay minimal tax.

One could also look at the way stamp duty is calculated on property transactions and the present legislation ,an additional 5% tax is levied on buyers owning more then one property..IT would be incredibly unpopular but simple on estimated alone would stop property in it's tracks..

Chill your horses righteous crusaders. In 2016–17, the Australian Government estimates that it will spend around $158.6 billion on social security and welfare, so 3 billion is nothing.

We have a great country where people look after each other and underdog is given the chance to climb out of rut. The cheats will get what they deserve in one way or another. Worst case scenario karma is a b&tch. Rather than concentrating on 3 billion concentrate on the other 155billion that saved lives and gave dignity to your fellow citizens.

We can all complain as much as we want. But unless you have an action plan or a proposal that actually can add value, you are no adding much.

Maybe email Your MP with your proposal. Get the ball rolling.

In other countries (let’s not name them) much bigger amounts end in currupt political hands and pockets. Even more is syphoned to their families and friends. “Australians are gullible “ please... not more than others.
