Hi, Can someone who has done development of 2TH (side by side) in these council, comment on time it takes to get Town planning permit roughly ? I am assuming given this is basic split, it should be faster ( 6-8 Months) ? - Bayside - Glen Eira - Monash - Whitehorse - Kingston I understand that it depends on land and other factors, but I am just after ballpark based on experience.
Also depends on level of documentation within the application. A little mantra - "do it right the first time" will save time and energy. And if objectors appear.... Generally speaking a well documented, well managed application (ie managed by a good planning consultant who "speaks the language", with no objections, should see you done in 5-6 months (based on experience) - and don't let them tell you COVID is causing problems and delays... We find Council planners "like" talking with planners, as opposed to architects or drafters. There is less "bluffing", more "professional level" discussion. A kind of "don't bluff us - we know the rules/provisions as well as you do" kind of thing. Less than good documentation (drawings and planning report) will see you out to around 8 months It also does depend on the allocated planner at the Council, and how that planner is managed
Thanks. Well said.Btw, I have done 3 & 4 TH developments in these areas so definately can second what you have said, but 3TH plus is a different conversation as there are other factors influencing. For 2TH 6-8 months, looks higher side but I guess good baseline to work with. Thanks mate.

Did one that got over the line in around 8months, current one took almost 3 years! Had council planner who was absolutely useless, quit half way through and and just a pain overall. Such a simple process made difficult. Have heard worse.
