Looking at the sample here on PC, you'd have to agree. We know their partners are in on it too but look at the line up: @skater @ellejay @MTR @Gockie @Lizzie @Marg4000 @wylie and the one who retired a couple of years ago - can't remember her name.
Not to mention the avatars that everyone thinks are men but are really women.
Sure, there are some fantastic male investors here too.:p I wouldn't say one is better than the other. Anyone who's sensible is going to do pretty well. Now I'll read the article.

I've done ok by myself but unlike others, I started very late and kinda did the male thing ie waited to hook up (which didn't eventuate!).

It sounds like you've done very well, and on one income. Not many can say that.

I think those who do it by themselves deserve a bit of a pat on the back.

With us, at first I'd bring stuff home & hubby would just sign anything I put in front of him, but he wasn't really that interested in it himself. I don't think I would really have bought though, without him beside me. As the years went by though, he got really interested & I had to continually say "NO". I'm still the one looking & doing all the accounting (I hate that part). He, on the other hand constantly sees something on a whim & wants to buy it.

@skater, you are an inspiration to many. :)
I think there are many female property investors out there that aren't on the forum though. At my work I might have a casual conversation and it turns out my colleague (female) has a substantial property portfolio all in Sydney, worth a packet. At volleyball, I manage the women's comp and there's quite a few females with an IP or 2...

Perhaps women keep it all a bit quieter.

But will she have to pay CGT if she trades you for a younger model?

Absolutely - my wife’s (name) been making a few interesting international investments this year. So let’s hope she’s a good investor!

Not only is that sexist but very far from the truth.
Unlike women, men don't feel the need to yell out to the world anytime they achieve something that men do every day.

Men earn and build the vast majority of the wealth in the western world, and are the major source of wealth for women.
There's is no wealth list that women top men, other than where sex is involved.
Even though most women have jobs and study and get preferential treatment getting jobs and in the workplace.

You married a lazy bum, or maybe a real smart guy.
It may once have been feminine to expect the spouse to pay your way, but it's kinda fluid these days.

We were joking about it the other day, if we divorced and the division of assets nightmare etc...We decided we're both way too lazy to start building wealth again so we can't get divorced.

Was taken from the ATO stats - so maybe not so far from the truth, taking into consideration I and Wylie buy property in hubby's name and Bob Shovel and BKR buy in their wives names - so we contra each other out.

Hubby is definitely NOT a lazy bum - he works extremely hard as both a process engineer and on renovating/build projects at home ... I take the money he earns, and make it work even harder.

    xx

Its OK the gender gap means women own 25% less IP's than men so it all works out in the wash

That used to be us too.

I look at it like this: We all have strengths & weaknesses. Hubby's strength was going out to work to bring in the $$. He had little spare time due to long hours at work & travel time. On the other hand, I was a stay at home mother, so had plenty of time to learn about & buy investments. I have also always looked after the finances & paid the bills. Hubby still isn't comfortable logging into bank accounts, so it's still my responsibility.
