I received the Domain predictions for 2017 the other day.

Nothing like comments showing their position "a great time to sell".

What are your take-outs from the article?

Is Canberra going to shine in 2017 or have they misread Adelaide?

Only 2% growth for Hobart? I reckon it could do near 10%.
    Very tight vacancy rate (0.6%)

My views have not changed, read my thread... Is it time to be Cautious..... the answer is YES.

The sky wont fall but you need to protect what you have made.

Why? Interest rates are moving north, economy is not as rosy as it appears, dig deeper for this one.

Market Sentiment likely to change in 2017.... this is the biggest one, when this happens investors don't buy they sit and watch and wait, when this happens more supply comes on to the market then buyers have choice and we go the opposite way..... from shortage of stock to too much stock and then prices fall back.

    MTR:)

I'd mostly agree. it's going to be more difficult on the jobs front. there will be increased competition (already seeing it).
Will require people yo increase productivity or quality or both of the services. if not, don't expect a pay raise ( and that will probably be a better case scenario).
Those looking for work will have to up their game largely because of increased competition.

Fairly middle of the road predictions made in the report. I can see Adelaide being slightly higher, Perth staying stable to potentially slightly lower depending on economic activity. Other than that it's an OK report which says much about nothing.

    Yep.
And this is a major reason why competition will increase...we are taking more skilled workers especially from overseas (as we should) and they compete for jobs of course...and often the higher value ones...already prevalent to a higher degree in Sydney and Mel...amd increasing more strongly in Brisbane.
Correct in your inference that anti pop campaigns will be out in force..happened in both the UK and US.

I think the population growth figures in Melbourne spiked due to a backlog in processing births - but the numbers have been huge regardless.

Maybe the more pertinent point is that people are now migrating away from Sydney, Adelaide & Western Australia, and into Melbourne and SEQ.

Queensland population growth bottomed out in Q3 2015, and has been rising ever since.

Hi Pete - love your blogs! what are you seeing when it comes to wages growth? population growth is great but income growth moves prices :)

By the thread title, I thought you were seeking which areas were going to become then next Ice towns...
Probably another thing to beware of with regional and other small towns.

Higher rates of unemployment is less likely in larger cities.

Perhaps. A lot of "functioning drug addicts" work too though. They can just afford more.

Think next election will be my first time voting One Nation, if none of the majors will act :(.

Feel like we are seeing more and more homeless, crush on the Trains, Roads, Beach's, etc..

Not really a fan of high immigration, but don't mind if we are building for it, but we are not.
