I like "extrapolation" if I want to sound like I am wearing the smarty pants.

I actually did it the other day and shocked myself.

I have used most/all of them when I have a telecon with my 2 year old granddaughter.

Unfortunately, the Posting Rules stop me printing her response.

TBH I have probably used 16 out of the 20. Does this mean that I am smarter than I thought?

I read an article recently which explained that highly intelligent people don't use difficult words, they can use them and they understand what they mean but they see using words that may then need explanation as a possible waste of their time. They make lots of spelling mistakes as they rush through communication to not "waste" time :).

People who want you to think they are more intelligent than they are will use complicated words to appear more intelligent than you they will also perform actions which they believe change your perception that they are more intelligent than they really are. Particularly I find they will mention modern tech because they think that not everyone is up to speed on tech so it's easier to pull the wool over your eyes (in all honesty, we ALL know at least one person who sounds like what I just described)

Intelligent people swear a lot because you can convey a lot with a single swear word and they can quickly spot the people who are "faking" being smart. Intelligent people know what these "sound smart" words mean and when to use them but talking to anyone who is not in the upper section of societies intelligence scale means they would then have to use more words to explain it..... a waste of time :).

They also have messy desks at work, this is because they would sooner spend their time braining over something juicy rather than occupying their time with something trivial like cleaning a desk :).

These words are pretty much only used by people faking it :).

I swear a lot and use these big words - does that make me an 'intelligent fake' or just a smart ars_e? :) :)

Maybe a little from column A and a little from column B ;).

It was an interesting article to read though, I will see if I can dig it up :).

Edit: Nope, can't find it :(

I don't swear much and I do use big words. However I don't use them appropriately. As already demonstrated.
