I nearly choked on my 55 cent Grinders espresso intensity number 12 while I saw this:

‘Australia’s coffee obsession is about to send us broke’

I have one cafe bought coffee per day on average at my local (Merlo is my favourite brand). On days I'm away traveling and away from home then maybe two or three. I enjoy good coffee and have no problem forking out to satisfy myself, however I would never pay $16 irrespective of the beans journey and story.

Our little Caffitaly pod machine at home does a great job. I also don't mind a cup of Moccona if instant
is the only choice I have, but I wouldn't try a sixteen dollar brew even out of curiosity.

At that price there's no money at left over for smashed avo and bashed fetta. :D

    Let's see how it goes.
Some people will buy it just to be in the 'in' crowd even though they have no idea.
Some will see the price and rave about how much better it is compared to the cheaper ones even though they have no idea

My workplace has its own pod system and i fill up mine with 200ice cubes and skim milk anyway

    Yum

I'm the same @Player - don't mind buying a coffee a day (I look forward to it) but $16 for is some next level hipster stuff.

I was shocked when 250 grams of beans at the local cafe were $16. I'm not sure if this is the norm or not. I went next door to Aldi and got my 500 grams of dark roast which costs around $6 and is better IMO!

    Cheers

    Jamie

Pulled up at the traffic lights a few weeks ago,car next to me was a top down and the person that started off the Coffee Club that's based in West End was in the car..So many people were looking and waving and after looking at 4k price range one can see why he had a big smile on his face..

I thought this too, last jar I got was terrible. Then I read they have changed the taste.

Anyway, good excuse to ensure I have some proper coffee about the house. Even if I don't have an espresso machine and just press it.

Wonder if anyone has used a Timtam as a straw? Small bite on either end of the timtam ,then use it to suck up coffee. Marvelous taste and it really softens up the biscuit. You could say a soggy biscuit.

not a big coffee drinker here, occasionally one or two is fine for a few dollars, but $16 a pop, a bit over the top.

$16 could buy me a tin of tea leaves runs a month for.
