I've been guided by these principles, and they've served me well.
    • Plan and execute. Set goals and work unceasingly towards them.
    • There’s always a way–set out to find it.
    • Be completely honesty and ethical in absolutely everything you do.
    • Surround yourself with a fantastic team of professionals and great mentors.
    • Master your money and your mind–both are vital.
    • Data is your most valuable tool. Monitor it, understand it, devour it and act on it.
    • In every decision, think “value” not “cost”.
    • Gladly pay for professional advice, help and assistance. Think “return on investment”.
    • Leverage and compounding are powerful individually; phenomenally so when combined.
    • Treat your tenants with the utmost respect.
    • Strive to continually increase your knowledge and improve your skills–read voraciously, ask lots of questions.
I first shared these with API mag (November 2014 issue).

“Treat a man as he is and he will remain as he is. Treat a man as he can and should be and he will become as he can and should be.”
    ― Stephen R. Covey,

Stephen Covey is spot on when it comes to this principle, that we should never, ever be mean and unkind, or speak ill of others. Unfortunately I see people breaking this principle on here and on Somesoft.

Yes, unfortunately so true, but this is not about the people they attack but more about their own insecuries. They have to do this in numbers, perhaps this gives them courage.

On a positive note, I have found in the main most people on the forum act with integrity and I have met made some good friends along the way.
