I was chatting with someone the other day with the same problem & only realised it was trivial when her workmate said they travel for close to 2 hrs from the coast. Yes, we do live close.

Yeah, my boss drives from near Newcastle to work in Parramatta.... No way I'd do that. I'm a bus ride no more than 30 minutes plus an enjoyable ~12 minute cycle.

What suburb is the property? Agree with the majority here, 1.2 km for me.

If being close to the station is the main reason for buying a property, so its desirable to tenants (i.e. reduce vacancy, generate more rent, less tenant turnoff etc.........)

Then I would buy closer than 1.2km even.....(without being too close obviously)

You didn't mention any other considerations for buying the property??

Yeah, I've worked with people who did the commute from around Shellharbour to Sydney City. No thank you.

I play in the Sydney volleyball league held at Sydney Olympic Park on Sundays but my teammates are from Illawarra, some come up from Bateman's Bay. All that for a single game of volleyball... we got ripped off today.

Our game was a quick easy one over in less than an hour. The game we had to ref went the full 5 sets and went for nearly 2 hours...

Batemans Bay? That would take over 3 hours one way, that's pretty keen.
