Just got a scam call (or I think it is, otherwise oops) 2nd one received in the last 2 years. I guess it's the right timing for it. First one said, gotta pay using iTunes or they are going to arrest me. This time a private number robo call "press 1 to speak to an agent" to avoid further penalty.
Only been getting this recently, but would not be surprise that it has been happening for years. I submitted a scam report.
I got this wonderful person who said that they could take all of my money worries away. All I needed to do was give them access to the computer, my password, date of birth, credit card number/expiry date/CRN, a carton of Winnie Reds & a case of New. That's when I knew it it was @datto
I’m getting a run of calls lately with what sounds like Japanese chatter (on my mobile and landline), and I think it is on a loop as it doesn't stop. Also, I'm getting Telstra calls on the landline saying my internet will be cut off" today" if I don't press 1 or 2. I know this is also a scam and decided the next call I'd see if I could annoy them by wasting some of their time. So I pressed 2 (to have the internet cut off) and the call disconnected. The small satisfaction I was looking forward to was cut off. We have a private number, so this ramping up of these scam calls is annoying.
@wylie i think it’s chinese. Its a threat about visa issue and having to go to embassy, and then asking them to transfer money to make the problem go away.
They must have got out of bed early today. The ATO (supposedly) rang about a debt I have to pay immediately. Me: I'll contact my accountant. ATO: Who is your accountant? Me: If you're from the ATO you should know so you tell me. End of call by me.
I normally just say "**** off you bleep bleep scammers" before hanging up ... they don't seem to call back Admittedly - last night hubby downloaded a "manual" for a piece of machinery onto my computer last night ... and the whole damn computer then started talking/typing in Russian ... ****! Immediately deleted, scanned, reset, scanned again, reset again and seems to be okay now ... bloody husbands!
Most unladylike. Appropriate but still... I've been informed the best place for gals to hide their secrets was to place them inside instruction manuals because we blokes never read them. Shame the manuals are now mostly online.
Could be wise. Probably @Lizzie inserted the Russian bomb in the download to teach hubby a lesson. Secret girl business ya know.
anyone know what the recorded msgs of some woman speaking chinese scam calls are, are actually saying??? she keeps going on and on and on
I've had to get a translator but she told me that it's something like... Spoiler: What the recording says "@datto, you're a very naughty boy. When I catch up with you, I'll put you across my knees and give you that spanking that you have earned by helping out your poor neighbours and cutting their grass.
@datto - I got a call from the ATO, they wanted some immediate payment, I said I was broke and they responded with "BS, we've checked your transactions on your Amex and you've bought a case of New and a couple of sticks of Winnie Reds, we'll take the lot". Long story short, you've gotta go to the ATO to collect the change.
Dang! Hope it's not the Parramatta branch. That's next to the Family Law Court and also the Local Court. I'll never make it out alive.
