The taxi driver put down $18 instead of $8

I rang the CC company they said the amount is still "pending" and to ring back later when its not.
So im waiting and yes its my fault for not getting a receipt

So this is the question, when i ring back to tell them an extra $10 has been taken , do they cancel the card before i can do this ???

What is their process if you have been overcharged?

    Their receipt trumps your recall.

But seriously, how far does $8 get you in a Sydney cab? I call BS.

    $3.60 flag fall
    $2.50 booking fee
    $2.50 after hours surcharge
    $2.19/km

I agree - was surprised when charge $5 higher than the meter the other day ... but realised there must've been other fees on top so didn't say anything. Been a long time since I last caught a cab

Cnr Goulburn and George ( World Square) to Cnr Goulburn and Riley, Darlinghurst , and i think the fare was something like $7.40 to $7.80 and i said make it $8, there was no booking fee i hailed it, (with my groceries from Coles so i didnt want to walk up the hill with grocery bags.);)

Anyway feel free to put me on ignore since you dont catch cabs in the city anyway:rolleyes:

Be careful they dont put the meter on Tariff 2 , they tried that on me a few times in Sydney , its only between 10pm and 6am , look at the meter and see if there is a 1 or 2 beside it.

I so avoid cabs esp for short trips - it's easier to walk. I thought you were more a uber kinda guy?

On the old "swipe" multi part receipts I had a dodgey Sydney cab driver put a "1" in front of the number too. Lucky I had the receipt.

I honestly cannot remember the previous time I caught a taxi - and I ain't going to stress over a "should he shouldn't he" $5. I guess if you use them all the time then need to keep any eye open as the amounts could add up.

Alternatively - buy a shopping trolley - they're back in fashion:

I'm too much of a tight wad to catch a taxi for something that is only a short walk. Better for your health too.

Considering your recent post on your health issues, if you like living you really need to learn to like becoming more active too.

I can't pretend that I know how far it is, but based on the small cost, it can't be very far at all. A small walk would do you a world of good.

12 minutes for a semi active person. More than that for somebody who admits to having put on weight and feeling constantly tired.

Though there's a cause and effect question here. Does tiredness cause the reluctance to walk, or vice versa?

I am happy to pay appropriately but also I don't like being stolen from!
You told your credit card company, so the next thing I would be doing is showing the taxi company the fare calculations based on the fare calculator,
I had an 'overcharge' of nearly $300. It took the bank nearly a year to refund me!
    Keep at them ,
look after your Cents and the Dollars will follow
    I hope this helps!
