Red is good. Just mix the first few cups half and half with soda water. Then move on to full strength as night goes on.

I used to drink cask wine 45 years ago.

My excuse:- I was Uni student. It was cheap but it tasted like **** :D.

I didn’t realise they still made cask wine and people still buy it .

Frugal Princess suggestion here: If you really must drink cask wine, get the Yalumba 2 litre casks.

Of course safety is of paramount importance. If the risk of injury to your grandkids is minimal, you can try any bottled wine under $7 from Dan's. A $12 cask of Yalumba is usually still better value than two 750 ml bottles. A foodie snob friend of mine has previously suggested the Hardy's 10 lt casks for about $50 depending on variety. This was a few years ago so I cant comment on their current price.

House red or house white by the little cask - Brown Bros do a 10 L catering pack. Just park it in the buttlers pantry bench and it will evaporate.

The Banrock Station 2L silver pillows of death are "okay".

My current Red though is Innocent Bystander Pinot Noir, only $23 per bottle but really enjoyable. I haven't found a Pinot that I would drink from a pillow.
